America’s Cup Venice: the victory of the Energy Team

Confirming a great time to form, the crew of Team Energy has emerged in the seventh and decisive test of the AC World Series of Venice and made his success in the absolute number of viable fleet for the circuit approach to America’s Cup. A deserved win, if we consider that the team of Loïck Peyron, back on board after absences of San Diego and Naples, has been leading the overall standings for the duration of the event.

To make today’s race was extremely difficult light wind conditions that have affected the basin of San Marco, stormed from more than eighty thousand people and a myriad of boats of all kinds. In such a situation, to get the better teams that were before the others were able to exploit more pronounced bursts.

The race decisively resolved in the early stages, when Loick Peyron has found the gap to just over Emirates Team New Zealand and launch with a slow but steady progression toward the Riva degli Schiavoni, while behind the opponents hindered each other. The only one who groped to keep up dell’AC45 French was the crew of Spithill ORACLE TEAM USA.

Separated by more than four hundred meters from the Energy Team, James Spithill did not give up and thanks to the call of John Kostecki has attempted to re-open until the last race of the tide. An attempt which saw the U.S. AC45 recover most of the secondment, up to present a few lengths behind the arrival of a couple of lengths. Peyron has not lost his focus and the return of the adversary has managed to better the situation by cutting the finish line with a handful of seconds ahead.

Unlike the frontrunners, the rest of the fleet struggled to escape from areas of flat total that have punctuated the basin of San Marco. More than once there have been contacts between the AC45, transported further by the current from the wind.

To win the third place was a solid Artemis Racing, involved in a duel to the whole field with Emirates Team New Zealand.

The results accrued at the end of the AC World Series of Venice have enabled ORACLE TEAM USA Spithill to extend its leadership in the overall rankings on the eve of the last event, held in late June in that of Newport, the advantage of the U.S. is now four points. Now Dean Barker must look away from the comeback of Artemis Racing, Taking the nine points from second place finish.
