Bottega Veneta: Discreet, elite appeal has returned

When Tomas Maier was appointed creative director of Bottega Veneta in 2001, the Italian brand was teetering. Straying from its 1966 roots in understated leather luxury goods, it blared logos and blew with the whims of fashion.
