Photovoltaics: the “Panel 100% recyclable” is born

Finally comes the PV panel 100% recyclable at “zero impact”: at the end of life, may be reopened and all materials (glass, aluminum, metals, cold, film, etc..) can be reused. From Swedish and Italian co-founded the photovoltaic module 100% recyclable without the use of silicon even eva (ethyl vinyl acetate). The new product is a collaboration P.Energy Italian company and a start-up Swedish Midsummer AB, which specializes in developing technologies for thin film deposition. The P.Energy is an industrial automation company in the photovoltaic industry for 10 years has specialized in providing complete systems for the production of solar panels.



The idea is based on the deposit of a thin layer of film CIGS (Copper indiumgallium selenide) of cells of steel. II CIGS technology is already used for thin film and the innovation consists in the replacement of expensive deposition processes over large areas with a less than photovoltaic cell to a standard (156x 156mm). The core of this innovation lies in the assembly process. To compose the panel, in fact, has been developed a new machine for the welding of the cells Cigs as well as for the lamination of the ultrathin glass has beeninvented a new rolling process ‘reverse’ for large-scale productions. P.Energy also developed the innovative design of the final module based on a mix of100% renewable raw materials and re-used by engineering and assemblyprocess for large scale production is the process of end of life form. The CIGS cells are encapsulated in a thermoplastic film which ensures adherence to glass and insulation from the elements for 30 years. This material not only improves the performance in spite of the standard ones (such as EVA-Ethyl-vinyl acetate) but, above all, is devoid of acetic acids and allows the reversibilityof the process at high temperatures. This means that, at the end of life of the panel, you can re-open it and reuse all the materials (glass, aluminum, metals, cells, etc..) With virtually no environmental impact.
